WE CAMPED IN SITE 78. W/E/S.CHECKED IN AUG.1 AND LEFT AUG. 4. THE SITES AT WAWALOAM ARE SOME OF THE LARGEST I'VE CAMPED AT. LOTS OF ROOM FOR THE KIDS AND DOG. THERE IS A NICE SIZE PLAYGROUND AND A NICE POOL. THE NEW WATER SLIDES WERE OPEN. AFTER RETURNING HOME. I CHECKED THIER WEB SITE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY MENTION ON COST FOR THER WATER SLIDE AND NOPE. NOT A WORD. $20.00 EACH KID A DAY OR $5.00 FOR 5 RIDES. SEEMED CRAZY TO ME. THEY SHOULd HAVE HAD IT ON THIER WEB SITE SAYING THERE WAS A CHARGE. BUT I TOOK MY DAUGHTER ON IT FOR THE 5 RIDES. THEY SHOULD COME UP WITH ANOTHER WAY TO CHARGE, $20 A DAY PER SITE OR SOMETHING.THE CAMP STORE IS GOOD SIZE AND WELL STOCKED.ICE CREAM IN THE STORE AS WELL AS VIDEO GAMES. WE'LL RETURN AGAIN NEXT YEAR EVEN IF WE DON'T GO ON THE NEW SLIDE.
First let me tell you it's a DRY CAMPGROUND. Only self contained units, no popups. Almost like camping in a parking lot. We camped in our 30 foot travel trailer we a group of about 7 or 8 other campers. Sites are very small, not made for todays' large rigs. Many in the group had issues backing in the sites. The ocean is right there and the breachway was sweet. Great for kayaking and we even went claming. This was the 1st year the park went through Reserve America which was easy, but you have to reserve 12 months ahead of time. We already booked for next year (July 09). The rest rooms are just toilets and was in need a a good cleaning. NO alcohol at all. They booted a group from one site. Seems a little to stricked, but it's the rules. The area was policed by the RI DEP. All in all. It was a nice 4 days. Wish they would make the sites larger. That would reduce the number of sites, but it is needed.
WE CAMPED WITH A FEW OTHER CAMPERS. ALWAYS LIKE TO STAY HERE FOR A FEW DAY EACH YEAR. NICE BEACH AT THE SMALL LAKE. SITES ARE LITTLE SMALL, SO IF YOU CAN GET IN EARLY DO SO. EASIER WHEN ALL SITES AREN'T FULL. STAFF WAS NICE. GOOD ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS. WE WERE IN OUR 30 TT. WISH THEY WOULD UPGRADE TO FULL HOOKUPS.
WE GO TO NORMANDY FARMS ATLEAST 2 TIMES A YEAR. THE STORE/OFFICE IS LARGE AND WELL STOCKED. THE STAFF IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND THEY ARE ALWAYS DOING SOMETHING ON THE GROUNDS. THE SITES ARE ALITTLE SMALL FOR THE PRICE BUT IF YOU'VE BEEN THERE YOU KNOW HARD TO GET.I WOULD LOVE TO SEE LARGER SITES OR CHARGE BY THE SITE.THEY HAVE 3 OUTDORR AND 1 INDOOR POOL THAT ARE ALWAYS WELL KEPT. THE LODGE IS LARGE AND VERY CLEAN. THEY HAVE A NICE OUTDOOR SNACK/FOOD BAR.SEEMS THEY KEEP ADDING TO THE RESORT EVERY YEAR.
We stayed there 8/17/07 for 2 nights. We were in site 37, right across from the pump out station, right across from the tent field, right next to the mini golf course (lights didn't go out till 10 pm), right next to the basketball court (kids played till 10pm under the lights). Our site stunk. It was one of the smallest sites I had all season. (12 trips from ME, MA, RI, CT, and NH). The whole park was booked so I couldn't get a different site. I was surprised there was no cable for the price. We had visitors come for the day, and it was $25 for 2 adults and a 6 yr old. We thought that was a little much. The park itself was nice for kids, nice playground, nice beach on the lake. Pool was OK. The layout was a little hilly. Lots of seasonal people which seems to be the new thing for big parks. All in all I rated it a 7 out of 10 (6.5 if i could). We are going back in Oct. in a better site so I think it'll be better. For the price it wasn't what I was hoping for.
